Abstract
The technical industrial community is busy working on the deployment, of “next generation” Internet-based payment systems. Here, we review the major areas covered in a panel discussion during the Financial Cryptography 2000 meeting on the subject. The areas covered were: the business models and business issues in deployment of and in getting to market with payment systems, the major Internet applications of these systems and the relations of the business to the cryptographic technologies and other technology which underly these systems.
