Abstract

This paper describes European standardisation activities for the evaluation of Secure Signature Creation Devices (SSCDs) focussing on smart cards. These standards were delivered this year to the Article 9 committee in accordance to requirements of the “DIRECTIVE 1999/93/EC OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 13 December 1999 on a Community framework for electronic signatures”. Further on an example of a German payment card usable as SSCD is presented which will be evaluated at the end of the year.
