Part of the book series: Lecture Notes in Physics ((LNP,volume 569))

Abstract

This chapter reviews electronic transport properties of manganites of the type (La1-x Cax)MnO3. Resistivity variations with composition, temperature and field are presented in some detail and the different types of magnetoresistive effects measured in these systems are analysed. Particular attention is given to ferromagnetic phases which could potentially be used as magnetic sensors. A broader review paper “mixed valence manganites” has been published by J.M.D. Coey, M. Viret and S. von Molnár [1].
