Abstract

After a short introduction into the requirements and the approaches to systems integration and the coupling of geoinformation systems, we again enter into the geological-geophysical application of chapter 6. We present the implementation of a component-based GIS, which has been realized distributed in Bonn and Berlin, respectively and is based on a CORBA systems architecture. The component-based GTS consists of a geological, a geophysical and a database server component. It is shown that geology as well as geophysics profit from the coupling of the geological with the geophysical component via an open geodatabase.
