Abstract
The work presented aims to develop an adaptive digital terrain model, represented as TIN, by combining different kinds of input data like 3D data-grids, contour lines, and single measurement points. A specialized triangulation process is being developed to optimally integrate the data sets and to estimate an overall error. Special emphasis is laid on the generation and integration of polygons extracted from scanned topographical maps. The terrain modeller is part of the MELINDA information system for waste dumps and contaminated sites.
