Abstract
The ESTIA project -Efficient Electronic Services for Tourists in Action (http://estia.sema.es)- aims to provide the means for mass adoption of Business-to-Consumer (B2C) E-Commerce in the tourism sector, introducing value-added services over the next generation access medium of E-Business, i.e. Mobile Networks. ESTIA is a European project involving 12 partners from around Europe and partially supported by the European Union.
The main objective of the project is to introduce advanced B2C oriented EServices upon intelligent mobile access devices in the tourism value chain and to attract tourists in active digital marketplaces. To this end, the project will develop a supportive mediation and brokerage system between product/service providers and tourists by combining the traditional physical trading activity with the advanced services of the virtual environment.
ESTIA will develop applications and an intelligent mediation platform that based on mobile and agent technology and XML standards will link existing & distributed WEB sites under a common mediation interface and provide the means for cost efficient trade of tourist products & services.
