Abstract
Comets have been seen since time immemorialbut asteroids were only discovered at the begining of the nineteenth century while the first members of the family of bodies that orbit in the region beyond Neptune were only discovered within the last ten years. Here, we wish to review our current state of knowledge of these three classes of bodies and discuss possible interrelations.
