Abstract
The Boltzmann like equation for a dissipative 1D granular gas, can be regarded, in the thermodynamic limit, as that of a simple particle inside a viscous medium - viscosity produced by the dissipative collisions with the rest of the particles. Analytical perturbative solutions can be found for this equation. We find that for low dissipative regimes, there is excellent agreement between our theoretical predictions for the macroscopic fields, and the measurementes from molecular dynamics simulations.
