Abstract

As wireless networks and advanced computing technologies are widely used, location-based information retrieval irrespective of place and time has become an important requirement for mobile applications. In this paper we introduce our Location-Base Information Service (LBIS) system built on top of component-based Middleware. The LBIS system resolves many issues in mobile and distributed environments, such as scalability, heterogeneity, reliability, and adaptability. Here we describe the detailed system architecture and implementation of the LBIS system and evaluate the system.
