Abstract

We have implemented a XML-based usage policy framework that provides authorization and cost-based accounting in the EZGrid system, a resource broker for grid computing. Primarily, this framework allows the resource owners to exercise more control over their resources by dictating usage permissions in a grid environment. The usage policies and associated rules are expressed as attribute-value pairs in XML. Interfaces are developed for administrators to set these rules and tools are designed to help the users and client-side brokerage systems to examine these policies while making resource choices. Globus toolkit’s middleware services are used for authentication and data transport.
