Zusammenfassung
Die histomorphologische Diagnose maligner Tumoren ist auch beim heutigen Stand der bildgebenden Verfahren und biochemischen Methoden immer noch die zuverlässigste und sicherste Diagnose und zudem vergleichsweise preisgünstig. Die pathohistologische Diagnostik bei bösartigen Tumoren ist nicht nur für die Erstdiagnose unabdingbar, sondern auch im Rahmen der Nachsorge bei Auftreten von Rezidiven oder Metastasen. Die Histomorphologie dient der histologischen Klassifikation (Typing) und der Bestimmung des histologischen Malignitätsgrades (Grading) eines Tumors. Außerdem spielt sie eine entscheidende Rolle bei der Bestimmung der Tumorausbreitung und bildet die Grundlage des Stagings.
