Comparison of Techniques for Fringe Pattern Background Evaluation

  • Conference paper
Fringe 2005

Conclusion

Starting from a critical analysis of the main existing techniques for fringe pattern background evaluation, we proposed in this paper an alternative technique based on the cancellation of the fringe contrast by vibrating the whole sample surface. This technique can be applied whatever the fringe pattern content and background spatial frequency and does not require any computation. Its accuracy is limited by the need to adjust precisely the vibration amplitude in the whole measurement field. Experiment in progress showed that some simple in-flight image processing can be performed to improve the accuracy of this adjustement.
