Zusammenfassung

Nahrungsmittelallergien können sich an unterschiedlichen Abschnitten des Gastrointestinaltrakts (Mund-Rachen-Bereich, Magen, Dünndarm, Dickdarm) sowie außerhalb des Gastrointestinaltrakts (Haut, Nase, Lunge u. a.) manifestieren. Dementsprechend sind die charakteristischen Symptome vielfältig und variabel. Bei vorwiegend gastrointestinalem Befall müssen Nahrungsmittelintoleranzen und anderere organische Erkrankungen (Infektionen u. a. entzündliche Prozesse, Tumoren etc.) sowie funktionelle Erkrankungen (Reizdarmsyndrom) abgegrenzt werden. Die Diagnose beruht auf Ausschluss anderer Erkrankungen und in vielen Fällen auf einem positiven Provokationstests.

Therapie der Wahl ist die Elimination der auslösendenden Nahrungsmittelallergene und ggf. eine zusätzliche medikamentöse Therapie mit Antiallergika und symptomatisch wirksamen Medikamenten.
