Antinucleon annihilations at low energies at LEAR

Abstract

This report is limited to a skeletal summary of the topics covered in the lecture. The arguments discussed were: physics interest of NÑ annihilations; S and P-wave pp annihilation at rest: new experimental techniques established with the ASTERIX detector at LEAR and physics prospects; p annihilation in nuclei: experimental findings of the Streamer chamber detector at LEAR and physics prospects; brief presentation of LEAR and summary of the physics programme planned starting from the end of 1987 when the antiproton collector (ACOL) will come into operation.
