Abstract
The method of stochastic regularization is applied to the phase-shift analysis of heavy-ion elastic scattering. For the example of 16O+28Si scattering at energies close to the barrier it is shown that existing data do not allow to draw conclusions about the relevance of Regge poles for this system.
