Abstract
The metal-insulator transition of Fe1+xNb3-xSe10, 0.25 ⋜ x ⋜ 0.40, and Crl+xNb3-x Se10 wasstudied by measurementsof resistivity, magnetic susceptibility and thermopower. The thermopower of the Fe containing compounds is positive in the measured temperature range from 5 to 300 K and the thermopower of the Cr containing compounds is negative at low temperatures. The Mössbauer spectra indicated a statistical distribution of Fe and Nb only in the octahedral chains for Fe1+xNb3-xSe10.
