Abstract
The natural convection placed in a horizontal or tilted porous layer of large shape ratio factor subject to a temperature gradient, depends not only on imposed stresses in the geometry of the system but also on initial conditions.
A three-dimensional modelization of spectral type helps to understand the induced flows from arbitrary initial conditions. The main convective structures thus obtained correspond to those studied experimentally.
