Abstract

Existing mean field theory calculations of the Peierls transition temperature Tp, and the zero temperature gap 2δ(0) , valid in the free electron approximation and in the tight binding approximation for a half filled band, have been extended to arbitrary band filling. The results are applied to KCP and TTF-TCNQ.
