Abstract

This paper has attempted to outline briefly the sort of experiments being done in HITR work, and how experimentalists are approaching their analysis, in order to give outsiders some appreciation of the activity in the field. Although the mechanisms of grazing collisions with particle transfer are often complex, in many cases the processes are rather simple and well understood. New nuclear structure information otherwise inaccessible is being obtained with a-transfer and other multinucleon transfer reactions. Interesting possibilities for exploring excited states in nuclei off the stability line, and many Particle cluster states in nuclei remain for the future.
