Towards @Destination: A DEA-based Decision Support Framework

Abstract

The paper addresses the issue of dealing with insufficient information and data for decision making and decision support techniques in tourism. Thus, the paper puts forward Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) as highly valuable alternative. DEA integrates the whole process of transforming destination inputs to complex tourism outputs comprising customer satisfaction with the various value-chain activities in a holistic manner. Making optimal use of information technology to facilitate decision support is identified as an important future issue and an architectural framework for such an IT-based decision support system is proposed as an outlook.
