Conclusion
L’incidence du cancer du col de l’utérus a diminué depuis vingt ans en France grâce au dépistage spontané couvrant 60% des femmes de 25 à 65 ans mais sa mortalité reste élevée en raison de l’absence d’amélioration notable des traitements. Le frottis cervico-vaginal reste actuellement l’examen clé de ce dépistage qui devra être rendu, dans les années à venir, plus efficace, à l’image d’autres pays européens, en s’organisant et en s’ouvrant à l’ensemble de la population féminine française ciblée (25–65 ans).
