Abstract

The temporal bone contains the external, middle and inner ear. In the middle ear the ossicles and a suspensory apparatus transfer the acoustic energy. In the inner ear the membranous labyrinth is embedded in the osseous labyrinth. The inner ear is responsible for hearing and balance. In this chapter we focus on the anatomy and radiologic anatomy of the temporal bone.
