Consent in Interventional Radiology

  • Chapter
Vascular Interventional Radiology

Part of the book series: Medical Radiology ((Med Radiol Diagn Imaging))

Abstract

Taking consent for Interventional Radiology procedures can be difficult, and requires consideration of the patient's general medical condition and their capacity to consent. Standards for acquiring informed consent are underpinned by legislation in many countries. Special circumstances including consent in children, research and patients detained in mental health or correctional facilities require further knowledge of local legislation. This chapter examines the current legislation and provides a framework to establish capacity and ensure informed consent.
