Protocol IPv4 32 bits address space introduces some well known problems when dealing with local intra-networks: internal pvm nodes could reach external ones, while the reverse is not always true. Hence, the PVM-GRID is not entirely deployable around the Internet as expected. New version of IP protocol, IPv6 (RFC-2460) provides full connectivity to achieve it. Other properties as multicast contribute to increase performance, and together with mobility and embedded security they yield a new concept: a trusted grid of roaming nodes.
