Abstract
Home-oriented Informatics and Telematics (HOIT) research has a number of challenges in the future. These range from the technical challenge of providing useful solutions through the ubiquitous paradigm to the cultural challenges of the 21st century. While much research focuses on the technical processes of devices, services and systems for the home there is little reflective research that looks into the ethical components of these developments. This paper outlines some of the ethical problems that are faced by developers and researchers in this subject.
