Abstract.
We describe the discovery of a new class of star cluster found in HST images of two nearby lenticular galaxies, NGC 1023 and NGC 3384. Using Keck spectra, we have shown conclusively that these objects are star clusters associated with their respective galaxies and that they have no known analogs in the MW or elsewhere in the Local Group. These “faint fuzzies” define a new parameter space that must be accommodated in cluster formation models.
