Samenvatting
Naast het onvermogen tot sufficiënte orale voedselinname bestaat bij ic-patiënten een veranderde en variabele behoefte aan calorieën en voedselsamenstelling als gevolg van de katabole respons op trauma of stress. Er is een toegenomen glucosebehoefte, door het verhoogde metabolisme vindt afbraak van spiereiwitten plaats en er is een toename van de eiwitsynthese in de lever (acutefase-eiwitten).
