Basic IA Concepts and Models

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Computer Communications and Networks ((CCN))

6.12 Summary

The primary purpose of an IA is to minimise the probability of an IA vulnerability, minimise the damage if an attack occurred and provide a method to quickly recover in the event of a successful attack. There are many models that can be used to assist in that endeavour. All of them have some value and should be considered for integrating into a corporate IA program. The IA professional must also consider the cost and benefits of such implementations.
