11.2 Summary

The CIAO position is needed in today’s information-driven and information-dependent corporation. The position requires someone who has the education and experience to lead a corporation’s IA efforts. The position calls for someone who understands systems, security and business as well as the risks to information and how to cost-effectively mitigate those risks. The CIAO must be focused on the goals and objectives of the corporation and integrate an IA program into the corporation’s processes that will assist (or at least not deter the corporation) in meeting those goals and objectives. The CIAO must be result oriented, use team concepts and project management techniques to be successful.
