Mountford was the school in the white working class area of Blatchford that we visited for the full three years of the project. What we give in this part of Chapter 5 is an account of the school, the area in which it is sited, home school relationships and numeracy practices at the school. During the project we focused on four children at the school. First there was Seth who we have described in our case study of him in Chapter 4a. The other children we studied were Kay, Lenny, Carla and Kerry. In this Chapter we will draw on data from all four of these children. Chris was the Head teacher and Pamela was the Reception class teacher and Zena the class teacher in Years 1 and 2.
