Abstract
A complete description of spectral and polarization characteristics of the radiation emitted by arbitrarily polarized high-energy electrons is derived for the case when the electron velocity makes an angle with respect to some major crystal axis that is appreciably larger than the axial-channeling angle. A nonperturbative contribution to the probability of the process caused by electric fields of the crystal planes is exactly taken into account. A possibility of the use of oriented crystals in a polarized hard-photon source is evaluated basing on the results of numerical calculations and on the elaborated qualitative picture of the phenomenon.
