  1. The only positive report is a single uncorroborated candidate event reported by B. Cabrera, Phys. Lett. 48, 1387 (1982). Among the more imaginative proposals for a search was the suggestion that because cosmic monopoles are more likely to be found in the oceans than on dry land, and oysters are prodigious filters of ocean water, we carefully distill many tons of oysters. The feasibility depends on the presumed massiveness of monopoles.
