Abstract
In these lecture notes, we present some basic concepts of relativistic jets. Relativistic effects such as the Doppler shift, superluminal motion and relativistic beaming are discussed. Using simple assumptions for the structure of the jet we derive the radio-spectrum of a freely expanding relativistic jet and compare these results to observations.
