Abstract
Data integration systems have been developed to provide an integrated view of related data sources, so that all the information needed can be accessed uniformly, transparently and independently of the physical storage. In this paper we report our experience in developing the first prototype of an information broker for APAT, the Italian Agency for Environmental Protection and Technical Services. The broker provides integrated access to a huge amount of hydrological information stored into a collection of heterogeneous data sources.
