    It is noteworthy that there is no recorded use of the parallel term ‘out-of-college’ education, even though much of what was described as non-formal vocational education and training was provided through what were felt to be non-formal colleges such as the Village Polytechnics of Kenya (Anderson 1974) or the vidyapeeths in India as well as by private commercial agencies.
