10.7 Conclusions
In this Chapter, we presented a number of techniques for reducing the transmission bandwidth and explored their effectiveness as functions of UAV and sensor parameters. Then, we maximized these measures of effectiveness by means of a genetic algorithm. An outcome of the approach is an optimum set of UAV state, and sensor parameters, that can be used to automatically control transmission bandwidth. In cases where scene-related parameters could also be controlled, the study shows that another outcome of the approach is an optimum set of these controllable scene related metrics.
