Markov Chain Monte Carlo Technique for Outage Probability Evaluation in PMD-compensated Systems

  • Chapter

Abstract:

A novel, fast, accurate and simple method for outage probability evaluation in compensated systems is proposed. The Monte Carlo method is applied to Markov chains to drastically reduce the number of simulations required to estimate rare events. The accuracy is quite independent of the outage probability value to estimate, and the uncertainty can be continuously monitored and reduced at will.
