Abstract
City and regional planning is one of the most obvious areas for immediate application of planar location problems. Particularly in urban development, town planners are faced with a large variety of locational decisions. A new facility, for example, in a residential area, may be either a new fire department, a new hospital, a shopping center, or other public utility. Each of these requires a different type of objective function relating the already existing facilities with the new facilities.
