Conclusion

Obtaining CME credit online is fast, easy, and inexpensive. Modules available on Web pages are generally informative, well written, and peer-reviewed. Like most Internet activities, however, obtaining online CME credit is not without imperfections. A potential abuse of the system could allow visitors to take the test without studying the material. Since the threshold for a passing grade usually is low (70%), obtaining credit with no real additional education is possible. This abuse defeats the very philosophy of CME.
