The story of how data were obtained from our subjects at age 48 should be called “against all odds”. This stage of the study was initiated and shepherded by an interested individual (Marjorie Kaiz Offer, the second author) who did not have formal training in psychiatric or psychological research. It's funding was atypical. Moreover, the recruitment and participation of 94% of the living subjects is unprecedented.
