Conclusions
Micronutrients and phytochemicals modulate genetic pathways of carcinogenesis and inhibit the initiation and progression of SCCHN. These compounds may have a role in the prevention of cancer in high-risk populations, such as tobacco smokers, as well as in the prevention of disease progression or relapse. Clinical studies investigating the use of these agents in the prevention ofSCCHN should be a high priority.
