Summary
In this chapter we have introduced the subject of sensitivity. We have chosen to mention this subject at this point, because it is an important collateral consideration for active filters, which we will begin to explore in the coming chapters. We have given the classical definition of sensitivity, developed its mathematical properties, and demonstrated typical methods of computing it.
We will have occasion to show that sometimes certain active filters can be optimized with respect to certain important sensitivities. We can use the comparison of sensitivities of various circuits to determine which circuits are superior in certain respects.
