Intense Radioisotope Sources for Spin Polarized Positron Beams

  • Chapter
New Directions in Antimatter Chemistry and Physics

Abstract

Radioisotopes are convenient sources for spin polarized stow positron beams. The production of a high intensity beam needs an intense radioisotope source, which can be realized by using a short half-life isotope. A review is given on the development and use of short half-life radioisotope positron sources. In particular, details of the preparation of a 18 F positron source are described
