Conclusion
To maximize the potential for success of location tracking services, privacy must be addressed at the outset, and must be a central design element of any location based service or device. As discussed above, the proper starting point for such privacy protection is with raw location data that can be used to derive or calculate location. If this and every subsequent stage of a location service provides robust privacy protection, and if that protection defaults to strong protection, then location services can become an important and valued technology for the twenty-first century.
