Abstract
The distribution patterns of three species of Eodiaptomus Kiefer (E. draconisignivomi Brehm, E.sanoamuangae Reddy & Dumont and E. phuphanensis Sanoamuang) in Thailand were studied. Eodiaptomus draconisignivomi is new to Thailand, and this is the first record of this species since its discovery in 1952. It has a rather widespread distribution in canals, rivers, lakes and swamps in the central and northeastern parts of the country. This species has so far been found in 15 localities, mainly in the vicinity of Mekong River. Eodiaptomus sanoamuangae is primarily a canal dweller, but also occurs in swamps and shallow lakes in the northern and northeastern parts. In contrast, E. phuphanensis is rare and appears to be endemic to Thailand. It has been found in five localities in two provinces in the northeast. In addition, a redescription of the poorly known E. draconisignivomi and records of co-occurrences of Eodiaptomus species with other diaptomid copepods are presented.
