Summary
In this chapter, the BER performance of various space-time processors has been derived analytically and some numerical results were presented. Based on the analytic derivations, the close relationship between diversity and beamforming systems have been shown and basic guidelines for choosing between diversity, beamforming and combined diversity and beamforming systems were discussed. The performance evaluation techniques discussed in this chapter will be extended in the next two chapters to include multiuser detection and space-time coding techniques.
