Summary
The implementation of two power amplifiers in 0.18μmCMOS technology has been discussed. The first PA targets class 3 Bluetooth transmission, and can be extended to cover both class 2, and 3 by adding a variable gain amplifier as a preceding stage. The second PA targets class 1 Bluetooth operation, and can be controlled down to 4dBm.The challenges of operating at deep sub-micron technologies, and with such low supply voltages have been presented. Finally the operation of the power amplifiers have been verified with simulation results at different operating conditions.
