Abstract
In the late spring of 1985 Hans Christoph Siegmann came to Catania for a seminar. Argument of the seminar was the possible application of the photoemission technique to detect submicron particles in the plume of a volcano, a novel idea of Hans Christoph for eruption control and forecasting.
