Abstract

It is difficult to machine a comparatively wide but very thin three-dimensional part, because it is easily deformed by the clamping force or machining force used during machining. The developed method uses a low melting alloy (LMA) to machine three-dimensional thin parts without deformation. The parts are firmly supported and fixed on the LMA by adhesion or suction force. The method and some results are described.
