Summary

Three simulation models have been presented in this chapter. They are related to the concepts of operating systems discussed in previous chapters. The model of the pipeline system uses the basic synchronization mechanisms that are provided by operating systems, implemented as semaphores. The model of the paging disk uses the mechanisms of process cooperation. The model of the client-server system uses simple bin resources to simulate the network access protocol. As with previous models, these model implementations are available as a starting point from which they can be enhanced and modified to suit the users need.
